Whitetail Deer Habitat Improvement : An on-going photo journal of a local deer habitat improvement project. The property is primarily forested mountain land in Scott County VA. The land has been under QDM for the past couple years, with a more intensive approach planned for the future. Through this photo journal, I hope to show the progress of a completely unimproved piece of mountain land, to a property that sustains a healthy whitetail herd, as well as a variety of other wildlife. These goals will hopefully be met through the creation of food plots, clearings to promote early successional habitat, forest management in cooperation with the VA Department of Forestry,and herd management through VDGIF's DMAP Program.
